Twirl to the World was created in 2009 as a way to literally bring more joy to the world – or at least our little corner of it. The idea has always been to bring the LGBTQ community together during the holiday season and have fun while giving back locally.

Our Story
Twirl to the World was created in 2009 as a way to literally bring more joy to the world – or at least our little corner of it. The idea has always been to bring the LGBTQ community together during the holiday season and have fun while giving back locally.

Our History
From our humble beginnings when the price of admission was a teddy bear for children with HIV/AIDS, to now – in our 12 years of events we have collected over 5,200 stuffed animals & toys for area children in need and donated over $250,000 to local charities and programming! Even as we evolve and grow, we remain committed to our core mission of “making a difference, one dance step at a time.”
Last year we started the Twirl Assistance Program (TAP). These emergency hardship grants are intended for selfidentified Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Queer (LGBTQ) residents 18 years and older in the Charlotte metropolitan area, who are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and need financial assistance for mental health therapy, groceries, medical, and/or transportation costs.
